Tabernanthe iboga 10 seeds
Ibogaine is an alkaloid with hallucinogenic effects that stimulates the central nervous system giving an amphetamine-like effect. Taken in high doses it causes hallucinations and overdose causes convulsions, arrhythmias or even cardiorespiratory arrest.
Chemically, it is an indole alkaloid obtained from an African shrub Tabernanthe iboga, native to Congo and Gabon. Scientific research has shown that ibogaine has a remarkable ability to treat the physical dependence associated with withdrawal syndromes to drugs such as heroin, methadone and other opiates, so it is used as a drug in the treatment of these addictions. It is a banned substance in few countries, being legal in most of the world.
Addiction Treatment
Most of the studies conducted on the therapeutic effects of ibogaine have been aimed at the reduction or elimination of opiate use, with a success rate of over 70%, while other research suggests that ibogaine may also be useful in the treatment of addictions to other addictive substances such as alcohol, methamphetamines, nicotine and obsessive compulsive behavior patterns that do not involve substance abuse or drug dependence.
