Klip Dagga 20 seeds
Seeds of Leonotis nepetifolia, Kilp Dagga Plant of the mint family, used in southern Africa as a medicinal herb.
Klip Dagga was one of the plants used by the Hottentot tribes of southern Africa to produce states of euphoria in those who smoked it. There are also other registered uses for this plant.
The leaves are used to make a medicinal tea of hypnotic character.
The leaves or roots are also widely used as a remedy for snakebite and other stings. This species is also important in Chinese/Vietnamese medicine, used as a euphoric, purgative and vermifuge.
Cultivation: Leonotis is widely cultivated as an ornamental plant because of its beautiful and bizarre orange flowers. Although its cultivation is not very difficult, it does require some care. It can be grown directly in the ground or in pots, it is very important that the soil is well drained (2 parts soil to 1 part sand works well) and that it gets plenty of sunlight (remember it is a South African desert plant). It needs little watering, watering only when the soil has dried out completely. It reproduces both by cuttings and by seed. It is advisable to put it outdoors only after the frost is over because it is sensitive to low temperatures.
