Melatonin 1 gram
Melatonin is a neurohormone secreted by the pineal gland in the brain and it is well known for causing and regulating sleep. Other benefits of melatonin include general neuroprotective effects, as melatonin is a powerful antioxidant. Taking melatonin is not associated with negative feedback, when taken causes your body to produce less of this hormone. It is also not addictive, and is not toxic. Anyone taking any neurally active agent (pharmacotherapy such as antidepressants or ADHD medication) should consult with their doctor prior to taking melatonin.
IMPORTANT: The doses of melatonin is between 0.5mg and 5mg. It wouldn’t be possible to determine your serving without the use of a Precision Scale!
To help with sleep, doses of melatonin is between 500mcg (0.5mg) and 5mg seem to work, taken roughly 30 minutes before going to bed. Start with 500mcg, and if it doesn’t work, work up to 3-5mg. The benefits of melatonin are not dose-dependent – taking more will not help you fall asleep faster.
Melatonin is not water soluble, but it is easily dissolved in ethanol. For a convenient way of use you can apply the following calculation as an example: dissolve 1gr (=1000mg) of melatonin in 200ml ethanol will result in 5mg melatonin in 1ml ethanol.
